Location: Pittsburgh, PA | Schedule: Full-time, on-site | Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 + Bonus

Overview

A professional services organization is seeking an HR Business Partner to support its Pittsburgh office. This role serves as a trusted advisor to employees and leadership, driving talent, engagement, and compliance initiatives that keep the firm running smoothly and its people supported.

What you'll do

  • Support onboarding and orientation processes to ensure a seamless new hire experience
  • Facilitate new employee integration and retention strategies
  • Partner with leadership and resource management to identify hiring needs
  • Support the Campus Recruiting Lead with local campus events, as needed
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR-related matters
  • Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and promote a positive work environment
  • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, reviews, and PIPs
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Manage investigations and employee separations with discretion and professionalism
  • Maintain accurate records in HRIS and generate reports
  • Support inclusion and employee engagement initiatives
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development to identify training needs
  • Promote firm-wide programs and events in partnership with other offices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional HR functions including recruiting, total rewards, resource management, and learning and development
  • Provide insights from HR data to inform business decisions
  • Support organizational change and workforce planning initiatives

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field
  • 2+ years of HR generalist experience
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Proficiency in HCM systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of discretion and professionalism
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

Preferred qualifications

  • HR generalist experience in a professional services setting (Law, Engineering, Finance, Accounting)
  • Workday experience preferred for HCM/HRIS systems
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
