Overview
A premier tax and advisory firm in the Carolinas is seeking a Tax Director to lead its Real Estate Development and Construction Tax Practice in the Charleston, SC area. This is a high-visibility leadership role for someone who can combine technical tax expertise with strong client presence, team mentorship, and business development skills to help grow one of the region's fastest-growing practices.
What you'll do
- Lead the tax compliance process for real estate partnerships, ensuring excellence across federal and state returns
- Serve as the primary client-facing leader, delivering proactive communication and strategic insight
- Manage financial performance, engagements, and client relationships
- Mentor, coach, and develop tax professionals within the team
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients on tax strategy and planning
- Stay current on evolving tax laws and lead process improvements to enhance client outcomes
- Participate in business development through community engagement, networking, and market growth
Required qualifications
- BA/BS in Accounting
- CPA required
- 9+ years of progressive public accounting experience with strong real estate/partnership expertise
- 2+ years leading tax management teams
- Strong communication skills with the presence to inspire confidence and lead client conversations with authority
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills with a track record of delivering results
- Must relocate to the Greater Charleston, SC area (or within a 1-1.5 hour drive)
